Data Messenger Server (DMS) is an alert notification server that monitors an existing database while running on Microsoft’s operating system platforms. Notifications are sent to fax machines. DMS is neither a gateway nor an Application Programming Interface (API), it is an independent server application.
DMS can be used for many notification purposes; send a confirmation fax when an order is placed or send a fax purchase order when inventory drops below a certain level. There are no limits to the ways that DMS can be applied to your business. DMS can make sure that the related data does not fall through the cracks.
Lincoln & Co. was acquired by Biscom, Inc., developer of the Faxcom Computer/Fax Solution and will continue to create image file conversion software for users and developers. Lincoln and Co. produces software to convert PostScript Level 2, PCL5e, PDF, and other complex page languages to TIFF and other formats suitable for fax, document imaging, and printing systems. It supports Win 95/98/NT, OS/2, Solaris, and several UNIX systems. The company offers drivers that appear to Windows applications as PostScript printers, but create TIFF formatted files. These drivers let fax systems preserve the high quality and legibility of electronically published documents. Another program, PageView, lets Win 95/98/NT/2k users view PostScript and PCL5e files directly. The company's proprietary FaxTone process allows photos and other continuous tone images to be faxed with high quality and transmission speed. Demos available at web site.
FaxMan allows you to seamlessly embed fax support into your Windows applications. The FaxMan SDKs server based architecture provides complete fax job logging, support for multiple simultaneous modems and features like fax priorities and device queues. You provide the user interface, if any, and we provide all the low level fax support.
NaturalFax runs on standard NMS CG, AG, and QX platforms which consist of various telecommunications interfaces, a high-speed controller, and an array of DSPs. NaturalFax supports store-and-forward fax, or the T.37 protocol, which provides a high-performance, low-cost store-and-forward IP fax solution for developers of fax servers and IP media gateways. Real-time fax, or the T.38 protocol, is an upgrade to NaturalFax provided in the Fusion voice- and fax-over-IP solution.
NaturalFax provides a set of document conversion, fax send, fax receive, and fax monitoring functions. A complete fax application also requires initialization, call control (Natural Call Control), and tear down functions which are provided by Natural Access. If the fax application is part of an IVR or unified communications application, Natural Access also provides optional simultaneous voice record and play, H.100 and MVIP switching, conferencing, speech recognition, and text-to-speech functions. This complete, unified programming environment reduces development costs and time to market for a variety of applications.

In addition to the FAXCOM Command Language (FCL), which is a set of ASCII commands that interface directly to the FAXCOM fax servers, Biscom offers additional API sets that interface with the FAXCOM through a fax gateway. The two API sets are the Envelope Specification and the Component Object Model (COM) API.
Envelope Specification - an interface to the fax service gateway that specifies the information required by the fax service gateway to send an outgoing fax. To cause the fax gateway to process and send a fax, you simply locate the envelope file created according to the Envelope Specification in the appropriate directory.
COM API - an interface to the fax service gateway that enables independent developers and VARs to easily interface to the FAXCOM server from Visual Basic, C/C++ or any other programming or scripting language that supports COM objects. Because the COM API supports programming to standardized Windows programming environments, developers have an easy-to-use API with which to write their own applications or simple macros.
Developers can also interface with the FAXCOM through a fax gateway using simple MAPI from Microsoft.
Brooktrout develops and markets intelligent fax and voice boards, application development tools and fax systems for networking and telecommunications markets worldwide. Developers kits for the Brooktrout TR series boards and API for NT are used with their fax and voice boards for applications development including LAN Fax, Fax on Demand, Fax Broadcast, Fax PAD and Real Time Fax, along with IVR, Call Center and enterprise wide CTI apps and fax routing over the Internet. Various options available, including the TruFax Developer Kit, including one TruFax 2-channel ISA fax board and API, with complete documentation, $595.
IsoFax is designed so that server and client functions are independent which should reduce the load on the server eliminating the need to dedicate a machine to being a fax server.
The server monitors the queue of faxes submitted by clients, the pool of modems, and logs all fax activity. For business sending faxes to large distribution lists, IsoFax offers server-side coversheets to reduce the load on the client. Faxes may be submitted to the server by standard GUI fax clients or through background processes using the IsoFax toolkit/API. Faxes can also be submitted by SMTP email, and MIME attachments can be easily processed into faxes.
